NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
NOVEMBER 3 - 9, 2024
Please pray for vocations!

Picture

National Vocation Awareness Week
is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promote vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.

Learn more about vocations in the Archdiocese at the link below.

Bulletin Post for National Vocations Awareness Week

As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives!  He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood,  some to the diaconate and others to religious life or to live as generous single people.

Fully living our own vocations  and teaching young people how to discern God's call is a serious duty, but also a joyful one.

During this week, please encourage the young people in your life - children, grandchildren, students, and friends - to be open if God calls them to priesthood or religious life.

Homily Suggestion

Please compose a homily to preach on the importance of vocation for both the life of the Church and the individual. Share the personal happiness you find in the priesthood and tell your own vocation story to help young people in the pews understand how to hear and respond to God’s call.

 National Vocation Awareness Week

Suggested Intercessions for National Vocations Awareness Week Masses:

  • During National Vocation Awareness Week, we pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life. We pray to the Lord.
  • For Catholic educators, that they will inspire students to remain open to God’s call for their lives. We pray to the Lord.
  • That young men from our parish will respond to the Church’s tremendous need for priests. We pray to the Lord.
  • That young men and women from our parish will remain open to consecrating themselves to God as religious brothers and sisters.   We pray to the Lord.
  • For an increase in the number of Deacons serving the Church; for those who are discerning the permanent diaconate.  We pray to the Lord.
  • That Christian parents, as they live their own vocations to marriage, will encourage their children to consider a vocation to the priesthood, diaconate or consecrated life.  We pray to the Lord.
  • That seminarians receive the graces they need to become holy priests who serve with great love. We pray to the Lord.
  • For all the priests, deacons and religious brothers and sisters who have served our parish, both living and dead.  We pray to the Lord.
