​Bethany House is a place, set apart, with an environment of support and encouragement for Catholic women as they intentionally discern consecrated life.  The women live in community, pray together, have meals together, host Religious Sisters and participate in a discernment book study during the program. 
  • Program Sponsorship:   The Archdiocese Office of Vocations and the Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus.   
  • Location: 1621 University Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413  next to Holy Cross Parish.
  • Day Time Jobs: Women participating are encouraged to be employed in the surrounding area to fill their time during the days.
  • Non-Diocesan Candidates: The program is open to women from all dioceses.       
  • Spiritual Direction:  Women continue working with their Spiritual Director or request to be assigned a Spiritual Director.
  • Rolling Admission Process:  Up to 9 women participate in the program.

  • 5:40 am to 6:40 am                Holy Hour with Morning Prayer in House Chapel  (M-F)
  • 6:45 am to 7:15 am                Daily Mass  at Holy Cross Parish (M-F)
  • 6:00 pm to 8:45 pm               Community Dinner (M/T/TH)
    • House meeting, Lectio Divina & Chores (M)
    • Discernment Book Study (T)
    • Host / Zoom Religious Sisters or Open  (TH)
  • 9:00 pm to 9:20 pm                Rosary Decade, Night Prayer & Grand Silence (S - TH)

Bethany House Discernment Program
August 29, 2021 - May 28, 2022

  • Community Weekends: There will be one scheduled each semester, cost covered by the Office of Vocations.​
  • Counsel:  Monthly Saturday morning formation and check ins with the Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus.
  • Age:  20 - 27 years old.
  • Program Cost: $525 monthly for rent & groceries.

Bethany House - Summer Program
June 12 - August 7, 2021

  • Community Weekends:  There will be three community weekends June 26th -27th, July 16th-18th & July 30th -August 1st for camping, a retreat and a staycation.  Cost covered by the Office of Vocations.
  • Age:  18 - 27 years old.
  • Program Cost:  $500 total for rent and groceries.

    Qualities of a good candidate for Bethany House:
    ​
    -Currently am 20 - 27 years old for the nine month program
    -​Currently am 18 - 27 years old for the Summer program
    -Spending time with the Lord in prayer
    -Am not currently in a dating relationship
    -Am in good health (physical, mental, emotional)
    -Have been vibrantly practicing the Catholic faith 
    -Have experienced living in freedom from struggles such as drug use, alcohol abuse, and sexual struggles
