Developing a Franciscan spiritual identity

Since I began to live as a Franciscan with the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in 1999, I have developed a Franciscan spiritual identity that I believe will continue to evolve throughout my life. This identity is supported and challenged by my Community and they love me as "sister." Living this lifestyle teaches me (on a daily basis) about compassion, patience, humility, poverty, and perseverance through the love, support, sharing, wisdom, and challenges I receive from the relationships I have within and outside of FSPA. I have faith and hope that God is working intimately with me as I grow into a more loving person through these relationships.
As I reflect upon the gifts of this lifestyle, my response is one of profound gratitude to God and my FSPA community. One very concrete way I felt called to respond to this goodness was to profess perpetual vows with FSPA on July 19, 2008 – and THAT is exciting!
